Job Summary
The Value Stream Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting multiple manufacturing sites and is primarily responsible for developing and improving processes as well as sizing and selecting manufacturing equipment that result in exceptional quality and productivity (OEE).
In this dynamic role, you'll spearhead the design, implementation, and enhancement of processes aimed at turbocharging value-added activities across our organization. Your mission? Satisfy our customers and shareholders through innovation and optimization.
Responsibilities
Support a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) through active use of Lean tools, including:
- Standard Work
- Single Piece Flow / Pull Systems
- 5 Why and Problem Solving
- Percent Load Charts
- SMEDs
- Kaizens
Actively participate in the Lean Product Development Process (Manufacturing Bridge, Impact Matrix, LWWPP).
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency via workflow analysis, space requirements and equipment layout.
  • Perform time observations as required.
  • Accountable for the validity and accuracy of new Standard Work while helping improve accuracy of existing documentation in the manufacturing area.
  • Provide technical training, direction, guidance, and mentoring to Manufacturing Technicians and Engineers.
  • Analyze quality results and perform analysis to ensure production meets quality requirements.
  • Responsible for manufacturing input and contribution during DFMA process.
  • CNC Programming within CAM software supporting G Code Programming for CNC machines.
  • Support the creation, implementation, and modification of the Capital Expenditure Process with the goal of improving manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support new product implementation via DMFA, creation of process, selection of tooling and validation of process (including fixture selection, tools, program, and gaging).
  • Standardization and optimization of tooling across Value Streams.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • At minimum, 5 years in manufacturing engineering position or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of Solidworks, and/or MasterCam or similar modeling and programming software.
  • Understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Strong mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics capabilities.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • The position works onsite in our Alsip, IL manufacturing environment, with travel up to 50% based on projects.
  • The position will be exposed to occasional noise, heat, cold, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Lifting requirements occasionally lifting of 10-20 pounds.
Key Competencies
  • Manufacturing experience with CNC equipment
  • Strong tool and process engineering experience for turning, milling, grinding, lapping, and assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
  • Master problem-solver:
    skilled in assessing alternatives using logic to identify strengths and weaknesses
